Newspapers

I don't read newspapers but my grandfather does so he buys them for himself
  • Do you look at the online versions of any newspapers? Which newspapers? Why do you visit their website and not others?
I see the news on the news app and on social media apps which deliver daily important notices and news of papers such as the Daily Mail or the Times, which I visit as they are the most popular and therefore trustworthy ones.

Magazines
  • What magazines (if any) do you buy regularly?  Why/why not?
I do not buy any magazines because I personally don't find them interesting.
  • What sections of the magazines do you read and not read, and why?
none because I don't buy them.

Television
  • Approximately how many hours a week do you spend watching television?
approximately 14 to 15 hours a week
  • What device do you use to watch television?
I use the TV or my phone 
  • What times of day do you usually watch television?
usually at night or after school time 
  • What programmes do you like best and why?
I watch Netflix programmes/ shows mostly because they do not include any advertisements in the middle of the shows but also as it is very good quality.
  • Do you watch alone or with others? If you watch with others, who decides what you will watch?
Mostly alone but sometimes I watch reality TV shows such as The Apprentice with my family once a year as a collective decision.
  • Do you watch 'live' TV or on-demand/catch-up? Do you use any other devices to watch TV (such as laptop or tablet?)
I watch on-demand/catch up TV all the time on Netflix and Prime video unless I am watching The Apprentice which I watch live on TV.

Radio
  • Do you listen to the radio?
not willingly but I do sometimes listen to the radio stations that come on in the car.
  • If yes, what stations do you like best and why?
KISS radio station has good music so I like that one.
  • Do you listen to podcasts?
no

none

less than an hour a week if listening to the radio station sometimes in the car counts.

whenever I am in the car driving somewhere (mostly daytime).

My grandfather loves to listen to old music on the radio mostly at night time before he goes to bed.

Film

I have watched murder mystery 1 and 2, New York Minute and The sleepover.

I watched them all by myself

mostly on the TV or if not then on my phone.

Online

mostly at home and for commuting and sometimes at school

I access my emails, the bus app, google maps, tiktok, snapchat and whats-app.

mostly communication with friends and family, information on routes and for entertainment.

listen to music on spotify

my phone

snapchat mostly as it is fun to send/receive snaps from friends and tiktok as its interesting

Final section: reflection
  • How can you develop the amount and variety of media you consume?
I can reduce the amount of modern media I consume such as the internet at film and TV and replace it with other media products such as magazines or newspapers.
  • What will you change in your media consumption habits this year as a result of studying A Level Media?
I will try my best to include a wider variety of media products in my day to day media consumption and try out a new form of media.
  • List three sources of media (websites/newspapers/apps/TV programmes etc.) that you will start to access this year that you haven't engaged with previously.
maybe news websites to catch up on what is going on in the world, magazines such as fashion ones that could be interesting and possibly listening to different radio stations more frequently.
